Why 4 Minutes Of Meditation?

After my mother passed away, my therapist encouraged me to meditate regularly.

I committed to meditating every single day for four minutes for two weeks.

“If nothing changes in two weeks I will stop,” I told myself.

One and a half weeks into the daily meditation practice, I was teaching art to a class of first graders and one young boy was having a tantrum.

Instead of addressing him with words, I stood next to him. I positioned by body to be a few feet from him, while facing the entire class who was at their group tables doing their art project.

With my eyes still open I began meditating.

I imagined I was breathing in and out the energy of love, which was the meditation I was practicing at home.

One of the alpha students in the class looked at me with a surprised and a slightly nervous expression. When he saw that I was standing calmly, he returned to working on his art project. The rest of the students followed suit.

Within a few moments, I felt a wave of energy rush through my room making it feel like a sea of love.

It was palpable.

The young boy who was throwing a tantrum suddenly fell quiet.

It was as though every student in that class was energetically supporting the angry child. The young boy who had been yelling was began crying softly.

That was a moment I recognized the power of meditation.

I was meant to be facilitating that.

Since that day I haven’t gone more than a few days without meditating in the morning or evening.

The practice continues to help me tremendously and is the reason I am teaching it today!

I hope these guided meditations remind you more closely of who you really are at your core and what you are capable of experiencing during this lifetime.
